Abstract:

Business English is melting with English, the business management, the external affair diplomacy, the multi-disciplinary foreign trade negotiations, the sale market, the financial economy and so on ,and it is also a variety which takes the linguistics and the applied linguistics theory as theory instruction possess polytheism ,the permeability and the opening features. Nowadays our business English teaching and research have already entered a new development, the business English system has been basically formed .Therefore ,we must analyze the business English systematically and scientifically .The most important and urgent duty for us issetting up an linguistics plus profession theory system which conforms to the discipline of linguistic development and also is good for the research of business English .It is a hard duty and also needs a long time to achieve

Introduction:

Since our country implemented the economical reform and the open policy, because the fast development of foreign economical trade in coastal each big city and even the interior various areas, business English, this discipline also rapidly grows in our country, and has played the positive role to impel the development of our economy and foreign trade enterprise. After our country joins WTO, the foreign trade enterprise develops further to the industry, the group and the internationalization, what foreign department needs is the compound talented people who not only grasp English skill also engage in foreign trade work, the quality which we need will increase .At present, the surge of business English has been raised in home, various universities, colleges and institutes increase the business English course .

In the society kinds of training classes have also arisen sequentially. Under the new situation, the business English development presents the new tendency and the characteristic.

The New Tendency of Business English after China Joins WTO

As the most important exchange tool in the modern international enterprise, business English has become a necessary skill of people’s work and study. Meanwhile, particularly for many international enterprise staff, the skill and level of communication have become very important facts which affect the work opportunity and the development of career. Business English Certificate is used by all kinds of foreign enterprises ,departments and organizations to prove the ability of recruiting staff. Simultaneously, it is also the way to test and improve ones own English level. Business English Certificate is regarded as a passport of business applications. After china joins WTO, the number that our country engages in the international trade enterprise increases rapidly, the enterprise structure has also had a significant transformation. Consequently a large procession of talented persons who are familiar with the operation rules of international trades and adapt the enterprise operation environment is needed. This article is my own viewpoint about the new tendency of business English after China joins WTO.

I.The present situation of business English application

Date back to the day of business English came out, this concept has been entrusted with many connotations. Having the “Business” meaning, business English is not simply English study longer. With the establishment foreign investment the absorption of foreign capital status and the rapid development of the foreign investment our enterprises internationalization degree enhances very rapidly. But in coordination with it, the talented people have the globalization business ability, adapt the multi-countries culture and have the international business English communication ability are mentioned to the program up. With TOEFL, GRE, GMAT as well as four, six levels tests which our country hold are different .The business English test specially pays great attention to the ability which examinee communicate in English in business environment. At present, there are hundreds of foreign enterprises which regard the Certificate of business English as the status to measure the employees’ English level. With the foreign enterprise increasing gradually, more and more Chinese work in the foreign enterprises. Although the work nature, the working area is different, they have the similar question, for example, how to engage in the foreign economical trade activity, how to hold the small space in the foreign management enterprise. The language difference is the biggest barrier that these people meet without doubt. Business English is the most important exchange tool of modern foreign enterprise. But the daily English and the academic which we know about .

At present the scope of business English learner in our country is widespread extremely. Including the staff who work in foreign enterprise and engage in working business environment, and will go abroad to pursue advanced studies have a certain English foundation, but also owes the people who is employed by the public lines, enterprise leaders and the policy -maker as well as the university students who have the request to the business English study ,hope to engaged in the business work in the future .This is because with the economical development and the international business activity increasing business English has become an important inspection content of applying for a job and employment .The introduction of the internationally recognized Cambridge Business English Certificate test provides a proof of the authoritative and the united English for all the various recruitments and trainings. At present the Business English Certificate received more and more concerns, as the professional English Certificate, Even if it does not engage in the business work, it is helpful very much in the future, At present, there are many three-investment enterprises, the state organ and business unit in our country that acknowledges the BEC effectiveness .since 1993 the test has set up in china ,it causes the strong repercussion in society ,more than 40 big and medium cities has established the BEC examination site ,there are more than twenty thousand people to participate in BEC1,BEC2,and the BEC3 test every year .In England , 69 universities have approve the BEC high-quality Certificate as the language ability proof which studies for the participation undergraduate course ; In China there are kinds of enterprises such as China International AIRLINES company ,the Buss husband limited company and so on which acknowledge the BEC; In the whole world 10 universities have confirmed the BEC test as the MBA curriculum .All sorts of these phenomena ,have created fiery situation in the business English.

II.The questions in the business English development

Business English is the most important exchange tool in the modern foreign enterprise. Most of people fell like participating the business English training class to work in a good situation and have a better development, but investigation shows that there are few people who have really studied, and some problems are still in the development of business English.

2.1 From the learners, learning business English needs a right attitude

Many people all thought that business English is a stepping-stone to enter the foreign enterprise. Therefore what the business English training class is starting for the people who go to the foreign enterprises to work or have already worked in the foreign enterprises. Most of them hope to obtain various business English training .For instance: related to the daily meeting, the specialized training, the negotiation skill exchange ways and so on. But because numerous bad psychological behaviors and the arrival of WTO, there are young people who think that so long as they have studied business English, they will be at advantage during work. Although this idea is right in principle, but it is invalid in fact. Investigate its reason , many people’s basic skills are not solid ,they can not study the business English ,in addition ,the media report the word “ business ” again and again ,it makes some people not grasp the direction ,in the studying process one wrong after another, it wastes not only money, but also wastes one’s precious time. Therefore, the author believed, that when we choose to study the business English, we certainly must be conscientious, realistic, and should not blindly estimate one’s level, or choose popular curriculum for the vanity, if so, it will delay our own study.

2.2 From training class, the training affect of business training class is not very good

Business English class generally divides into the long-term class and the short-term class, the students can accept the business English glossary, the phrase as well as related business dealing training in the original English foundation .Why many people choose business English class study form is the most important is that everybody is allowed to exchange the study and the work experience during the class .The school builds one language environment and the cultural atmosphere for students ,but it is reported ,at the present stage .The quality of the business English class is bigger than the learners of the business English ,in other words in the business English market, appeared the offers bigger than needs .The main reason lies in that the many people who have studied are not satisfied what they study in the training class. They said that some training classes pay too much attention to the business knowledge of the book, Although foreign professors teach class, they certainly doesn’t understand the operation process, some teachers lack the experience of the business activity.

The students who participates in BEC training said "participating in the business English study is to want to learn some experience which they can take advantage of in the work, because it is heard that business English actually is similar with the economic, it divides into the finance, the business correspondence, the circulation of money, the business negotiation and so on. But on attending class, we discover that the teachers teach according to listening, spoken English, reading and writing separately. They haven't taught what we truly want to study." Many students hope there are more experienced teachers in the business English training organization.

2.3 From the instruction knowledge, the idea instruction is similarly important

Although business English is still high but the business English learner scope should be widespread, including foreign enterprise staff, people who will go abroad to pursue advanced studies as well as the university student who had the request to the business English study , what it enhances not only the speak and the language ability but the life and survival ability .Business English has the vital significances for anyone, it plays the vital role in the key place a foot in front of a goal".

Business English curriculum should not only simply enhance for the student English proficiency, the ability, what it is more is to teach for students a kind of western business management idea, the work psychology, even how to deal with the foreigner and cooperate, the work ways and means, and living habits and customs and so on. Business English is contained in a certain in the cultural concept. Therefore, a good business English training class besides the teaching specialized English knowledge, the west business English management basic idea also must be involved.

III. The new tendency of business English after China joins WTO

Nowadays, business English relations among various countries are more and closer, the strengthening of the economic dependence between nations and the internationalization of the economic life have been the tendency of the economic development at present. Therefore, the trade exchange ,between the WTO member nations life is frequent day by day .Its activity is big to the multilateral trade talks , slightly to the concrete commodity import , the export ,involving to each level . From the region, the main market in the world may be divided into American and the Western Europe market, Eastern and the Association of East market, Eastern European and the bay market, African and the Latin American market, Hong Kong and Macao market in our country. Now the market is a rich commodity, intense competition, diversification. In such situation, the bargain, the negotiations, the transaction consultation and signing a treaty is essential in the trade process. As a language of communication and exchanging, business English takes on this duty dutifully. But because the countries' language background between countries are different ,a kind of unified communication channel is needed ,in view of the fact that the English status and the influence in the international exchange ,naturally becomes the first language of in the international trade.

After China joins WTO , as ″Economical English ″business English will plays the more and more vital role in foreign multilateral trade in the our country .The WTO trade activities covers three big domains: Cargo trade service trade and intellectual property rights trade. As international language and information carrier English plays an important role without doubt in these domains.

3.1 The application of business English in cargo trade domain

In cargo trade, the correct understanding and standardized translation about import-export goods technical terms as well as businessman's foreign language level . Whether the former is appropriate, whether the latter is competent to the foreign language communication all directly relates the economic efficiency in the commodity exchange ever transaction success or failure. After joining the WTO , the liberalized degree of the cargo service trade further enhances . Chinese economy further opening and transformation promote the circulations of commodities further liberalization. Since the 90's,in the cargo trade , the Chinese customs duty has dropped many times ,on December 1,1997,the weighted average customs duty falls to 17%,and in 2001 dropped to about 10%.The customs duty drop gradually , which must make foreign commodity enter the Chinese market at last ,it causes the intensify competition in domestic market and brings the opportunity for the service industry of the commodity circulation . Therefore , English is essential in the whole cargo trade. The essence of the cargo trade is the import –export trade of the trade .In the cargo import-export trade procedure, on the transaction consultation and the signing a treaty the link is very important. The transaction consultation is the business negotiation both sides carries by the letters and telegrams or the oral way, which is the essential stage of the entire service. In transaction consultation each link utilizes business English, we all should make the content clear and integrity and the writing bright. In this process, the correct understanding and the application about the technical terms of the import-export goods directly will relate to the economic results in the commodity trade even the transaction success or failure.

3.2 The application of business English in service trade domain

The importance of the service trade: In the international trade, since long ago cargo trade takes primarily, service trade is auxiliary. Soon, the cargo trade and the service trade are at the equal stage. In the 21st century next half, the service trade is primary, cargo trade for auxiliary. This is the historical path and the direction that the international trade. The history of the main trade nation in the world, the development for its cargo trades in service trade and the entire global economical strategy implementation play a positive role. In order to further develop our economy, we must vigorously develop the service trade, to speed the economics and trade strategy, such as the cargo, the technology, the investment, the international economy cooperation, the contract and so on. Business English itself has become a part of the economic efficiency in the service trade department a part, may be called "the economical English". English is applied in the service trade and the principal aspect includes: Advertising industry, business activity, translation service and so on. After China enters the world, our foreign economy contact can rapidly deepen the expand, and the exports advertisements are able to gradually develop into a main method that the enterprise import-export sale, develop the overseas market; so the foreign advertisement which massively wells up is the import origin our enterprise and the consumer obtains the commodity economy information. How to appropriately utilize and understand English advertisement language to realize the advertisement goal, which has been a realistic question in front of the advertisement personnel and the general consumers. As a kind of application language, because its has the special effectiveness, Advertisement English gradually comes out from the ordinary English and develops the special-purpose language of the non- standardized, and along with the advertisement development, the time advance, the technical progress and society's change , it changes. Because the advertisement’s goal lies in what it can make the deep impression for the goal object and obtain the people’s favor, therefore many advertisements all are made deliberately by several polishes. They have word exquisite original, the syntax neat and the connotation is rich, they not only have the very high business value, simultaneously has the certain language research value and the appreciation value. Business letters and telegrams is an important constituent of business activity we conduct the business dialogue by post and telecommunication facilities (telephone, telegram, fax, Internet and so on), and frequently serves as one kind of business behavior or the contract evidence. The business letters and telegrams usually are used to achieve some kind of specific goal like sale commodity, the inquiry, the consultation information, sues for damages, the business regards and so on. After China joins WTO, in the 21st century information times, we must fully use the easy and quick superiority about the letters and telegrams and enhance the business volume and the efficiency.

Business English is used in translating the service mainly including the below content: The commodity background material (Including technical terms, trademark, instruction booklet, commodity ingredient, structure, performance and so on)the invitation, the name card, the business negotiations, the service letter, the visit material ( Including imitation letter ,application visa, subscribes airplane ticket ,brand and lodging ,rest ,entertainment , itinerary and so on ) , the document form, the telegram, the fax, Internet downloads reached an agreement, the contract, the business advertising, bid, the auction, the related law and the regulation and so on. The translation must be faithful the original text, does not have condition to display endlessly and also doesn’t need compress reduces (it does not refer to abridged translation ,translate selectively and so on ) ,that is what we must show the original meaning . Therefore, the translation language should standardize. Just like Lu Xun said: “The translation must have sides, the desired easy solution and preserving the abundant posture of the original work ." As the translation, the standard is suitable without doubt.

3.3 The application of business English in the intellectual property rights domain:

The intellectual property rights domain includes: The copy right and the related rights (namely performer, recording product’s maker and broadcast organizer’s right ) , the trademark rights with the service mark , including the original habitat name and the geography mark with the original habitant name ,the outward design of the industrial product ,including the new plant variety protection patent ,the integrated circuit layout and the information of the business secret and the tentative data which had not disclosed .

As an enterprise product mark the trademark is the carrier of the product quality, the prestige and well-known carrier and condenses the capital, the wisdom and the painstaking effort which the enterprise throw person's massive capitals, facing the intense market competition, more and more facts indicated that, The competitive advantage of the famous brand commodity is more and bigger, the market competition will be the trademark competition. The trademark has become the shopping guide of the consumer, and “the golden passport” of moving towards the domestic and foreign markets. The fashion the famous brand commodity is the symbol of the enterprise success .The fashion which the consumer pursues. This nature becomes the extent of protection of the intellectual property rights. In addition, in the intellectual property rights trade, in the patent applications, transfers and inherits and so on, business English is playing an intermediary and bridge role. If in the intellectual property rights and the Chinese-English translation, for the academic knowledge product the monograph, the literary work, audio and video product and trademark translation and the use .It must have a following requirement:(1) the using of the copyright after receiving the patent possessor’s permission ;(2) After buying outright the patent person's copyright thoroughly, you only have the right of use; (3) The intellectual property rights belong to the private property. Only according to the legal proceeding, after receiving the patent person's property, if the copyright’s branch range doesn’t belong to one of the fronts, but using the copyright possessor's knowledge product, it is the copyright embezzlement, belongs to the illegal activity. If "the Oxford applied linguistics collection" the Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press introduced is to receive under the Oxford University Press authorization, then added on Chinese book title and other Chinese marking and the synopsis, it’s officially published in the domestic.

IV. Conclusion
